8 Miles Old Town - Mt. Vernon
Flat out and back run starting in Old Town, heading north up Mt. Vernon Trail along the water, and a quick stint on Four Mile Trail Run before turning around. Meet in front of Alexandria City Hall (301 King St.).
Old Town Waterfront to Bel Haven
5.7 miles out and back following Union St. and the Mt. Vernon trail along the water. Flat roads and pedestrian paths with interesting town and river scenery. Meet at Trader Joe’s (612 N St Asaph St.).
Alexandria — National Harbor
10 miles out and back from the city center across the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Path and into National Harbor before turning around. Meet at Helen Miller/Bernard Hunter Park on the corner of N Fayette St. and Queen.
4 Miler Theodore Roosevelt Island
From Rosslyn across to TR Island and looping around the rough trails. We’ll do some additional short out and back springs on the island. Meet at the parking lot on the north end of 7-11 (1625 Wilson Blvd.).
9.62 Arlington — Glebe Park
We’ll head east on the Custis Trail before heading up in some pretty greenery areas around Potomac and Glebe Parks. Park and meet at the Key Bridge Marriott (1401 Lee Hwy) by the bridge.
Around Burke Lake
Just about 5 miles around the rough trails of Burke Lake. Meet at the marina, which is the main entrance and past the park and information center (off Golf Drive on the west side).
7.5 Miler Burke, Virginia
Mixed paths and sidewalks through some urban roads and some quiet neighborhood streets. “Figure 8” run starting at the Northern Virginia Academy of Early Learning (6215 Roberts Pkwy.) and looping
Chesapeake — Battlefield Almost 6-Miler
Rural, minimal traffic, and a great morning run in south Chesapeake. Winding east on Etheridge Manor, up Fentress, and looping back via Gloria Dr. Meet in front of the Walgreens on 201 Hanbury Rd. off Great Bridge Bypass.
Chesapeake Volvo Pkwy to Lake Christopher
A little over 9 miles looping through east Chesapeake neighborhoods and up Kempsville Rd. to the lake and back. Meet in the parking lot of City View Park on Kempsville Rd. near the bathrooms (the SW corner of the parking lot)
4 mile Fairfax County Trail Out and Back
Sometimes a flat, shady trail is all you need. This follows the Accotink Creek from Pickett to Woodburn. Meet at the northernmost baseball diamond at Thaiss Park off Pickett Rd.
5.6 miles at Fairfax Villa Elementary School
5.6 miles starting at Fairfax Villa Elementary School (10900 Santa Clara Dr.) and making a big loop around George Mason University and downtown Fairfax. All on sidewalks; there are some light hills and some major intersections.
10 Mile Out and Back to Mosby
Mix of wooded trails and street running starting in downtown Fairfax and turning around at Mosby Woods Elementary School (via Old Lee Hwy). Park in the Farmers Market parking lot and meet in front of Wells Fargo on Main St.
Boardwalk + Strength Training
Gorgeous run along the iconic Virginia Beach Boardwalk. The run itself is about 4 miles but plan on stopping at the 2 mile turnaround point for some strength training (HIIT combo of plyometrics, planking, and/or pushups, etc.). Meet at the Neptune Statue on the boardwalk (between Laskin and 32nd).
South Virginia Beach — Sandbridge 6 Miler
Out and back run starting on Sandpiper Rd. to Kabler Rd. with a challenging run back on the sand. Meet at the Sandbridge Seaside Market (209 Sandbridge Rd.).
Little Creek Base Loop
9 mile loop that hits some sand, the golf course twice as well as some trails. Stop at Little Creek Beach to hydrate and stretch both on the way out and back. Meet in front of Zoots Cleaners on the base (3370 Gator Blvd.).
Some busy streets and some quiet paved paths. Starting on Rippon, up Blackburn, to Featherstone, and Farm Creek Dr. Plenty of parking at the Rippon Landing VRE Station and a good meeting place.
Prince William Forest 7 Mile Loop
This is one of the best spots for hitting a trail run. We’ll go by some hills, Quantico Creek and the Old Pyrite Mine. Turn off Dumfries Rd. onto the Spriggs Lane Fire Rd. and park at the water tower.
Woodbridge — Lake Ridge Long Loop
A nice suburban residential area in Lake Ridge-Dale City; a short cross over and back on the parkway but everything else is backroads. Meet at the NE corner of the parking lot of Woodbridge Junior HS off Old Bridge Rd.
